Because she turns off the faucet

and fixes the thin glass window

which rattles in the wind

quietens the baby and silences

the snoring, walks down

the street to stop at every

fourth house till morning,

because once in a while

you sleep moving needles

in your dreams and wake

After I stone the neighbour’s 

windows, I close my eyes.

It is 1999. I am 7 & this
