My artwork is a response to Sumit Roy's piece - Swades. While Sumit's work explored the hard reality of women's restricted status in current day India and Pakistan, I wanted my artwork to be a beacon of hope for us women. Women have fought through oppression and continue to do so on both sides of the border. One day you and I will cross each other's lands, without soldiers and borders blocking us. One day you and I will rule our homelands, without society and culture stopping us.
